60 Some Transitions

Prepare or Repair

Life transitions.  Some we know are coming.  Some we try to avoid.  Many are surprises.  We wish most to be joyful.  All of them are impactful.

In the last month I hit a few transitions.  One that was a surprise… health wise getting shingles as a 39-year-old.  Really?  I’m all good now.  One I knew was coming… my oldest about to enter high school.  And the last I wanted to avoid… turning 40.

You Have to be Ready

Research has concluded that the average person will have 60 life events or transitions in the course of their life.  If married, that number increases with a spouse’s events to be encountered.  Most people and sadly many financial advisors are much more reactive than proactive when dealing with these 60 life transitions.  Reactive or Proactive… Which would you rather be?

“It is better to prepare for life transitions, than repair”

-Mitch Anthony (credit quote and research)

My career as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional is one that I love and truly feel I have been called to.  I know am making a difference in the lives of my clients.  I pray daily for wisdom to foresee events in my clients’ lives and provide good counsel.  Life events also often pop up and surprise.  For example, who gets married planning for a divorce, or who knows when a job loss will occur or the passing of a loved one? The timing of such events are often surprises but the preparation for “if they happen” is usually rather simple and even just a little preparation is better than none.

Have a Plan

My favorite part of my job is discussing what really matters to clients, the goals related to this and how can we help prepare and plan.  Each financial plan is different, each is fluid to adjust with life’s surprise transitions and each plan helps clients to be proactive and prepared.

If you have questions on the plans you have already made, have had a recent surprise transition or wonder what transition might unknowingly lurk ahead of you?  Shoot me an email or call.  I would be privileged to assist.

Below is a longer list of many life transitions.
